The project was successful in exploring type design in designing an elegant looking letter form. A system is evident in the set of letter forms although they were created base on intuitive process. Among the presented explorations, the one to interact natural visual element with text is particularly effective. The etching away effect flower petal pattern has on a haiku poem tells a narrative beyond cultural boundaries.

Not Working 

Although the outcome is “stylized”, it needs context to carry richer meaning. The critical question behind is also unclear.

Further Development

– How style and legibility of typeface matter switch between works or different directions.

– How context changes affect the letter form are read; test out the tension between function and aesthetic.

– Maybe choosing Haiku related to nature and replacing the legible font with elegant looking font would enhance the poetic quality.

– Use the photography you took as a texture.
